Let’s meet again in an alternate universe
where your eyes are brown and I dyed my hair black
because I hated being a natural blue.
I’ll teach you to play guitar
and you’ll show me how to fly,
scholars caught in an intellectual love affair,
a tandem bike going nowhere.
I’ll know you by the gentleness
of your fingertips and you’ll need
no identifier but the slant of my handwriting,
because, world to world, some things don’t change.
#Glory-Be-Project Day who gives a fuck.

Felt like writing something surreal. This happened.

Copenhagen is one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the world. It also lends it's name to the quantum physics term, the Copenhagen Interpretation, which is that theory that says a particle exists in all states until someone observes it. In the many-worlds theory, all those states exist. The two theories are at odds with each other to say the least, but I liked the title too much to pass up.

[EDIT] Proving once again that I don't have any damn clue what my audience likes, this piece has baffled me with its popularity. Can someone explain it to me? I honestly didn't think that much of it when I posted it :XD:

"Because, world to world, some thimgs don't change."

The closing line I this poem really completed the whole thing very well. (Forgive me if I misspell something. I'm thumbing this on a tablet and am unused to writing text on the screen with my thumbs.)

I don't say this often because there are just so many love poems in the deviant univserse but this is probably one of my favorite love poems and I think it's because I like to think I relate to it. My boyfriend is a guitarist and I have often been complimented on my handwriting. It's lovely piece outside of relating to it from my own personal experiences. It tells a great story and I really enjoyed reading it. Great piece!

Your fellow writer

Izzie

Thank you :) I've become more fond of this one over time, though I'm still baffled by how popular it is. I'm glad it resonates with you!

Isn't it funny how that happens with some pieces? :)

You're quite welcome!

I'm don't know why everyone else likes it so much, but I just love how it's so incredibly ...honest? Not the exact word, but I'll go with that. Also the bit about how world to world some things don't change.

I find it odd because it was one of those things I slammed out in ten minutes and didn't really think about it :XD:

i saw Copenhagen and immediately thought of the chewing tobacco, so i clicked.
i think a lot of people like it because people like what can be considered abstract, i say considered because in reality your writing is rather more mysterious than abstract. like only you reaaallly know the meaning but it can be iinterpreted into a lot of shit

I love "where your eyes are brown and I dyed my hair black / because I hated being a natural blue." Brown eyes are such a simple change, but being a natural blue is drastic; their coupling makes something normal and soft out of it, a sort of tie-in to the whole notion of a universe so close to, yet so vastly different....

I love this. The imagery just really sends me to the world you were trying to create here (which, in answer to your question, I think is much of the reason this is so popular).

It's weird because I wasn't really trying to create anything with it - I just liked the opening line a lot :XD: And I really wanted an excuse to use the phrase "intellectual love affair," because isn't that just the best kind of affair?

Well then that's pretty awesome that you spontaneously created something without trying. :) I really enjoyed the phrase "intellectual love affair," and I've been thinking about exactly what that would entail ever since. :P

Very, very nice poem  Interesting, I didn't know about the Copenhagen Interpretation but I can give you one little tidbit about the Danish name. In Danish Copenhagen is called København. "Køb" = "Buy", "En" = "A", "Havn" = "Port". Who names a capital that??
