I think it’s the anxiety
medication, or the lack
of, that keeps my dreams from
being dreams, but not horrific
enough to be nightmares.
The images won’t linger longer
than a few minutes, but the tension
stays, a butterfly on my shoulder,
waiting to brush my ear with
a whisper of dread that sets my pulse
thundering.
Week 1, Day 2 of the #Souljournalists challenge - Dreams
#Glory-Be-Project Day 2

I was taking some anxiety meds for about a month until I ran out in November. It was a trial to see how/if they were helping. I think they were, but I also don't want to rely on it. Still, last week, almost every night I was having some seriously weird/ tense dreams that I couldn't recall after I woke up. The only thing I can think to blame is the medication, even though I haven't had any in weeks :XD:

I kind of like the title, but it feels melodramatic. Suggestions?

I know it says "no poetry" in the challenge rules, but as long as it's nonfiction poetry, who cares? (And if it is an issue, I am out of this race.)

For the title, maybe "Anxiety's Butterfly", "Abridged Morning", "A prescription needs filling", or "Early Thunder." I agree that "Dreadful Whispers" sounds melodramatic, but you don't have a really obvious choice for a title besides that. I kinda like "Abridged Morning" best. It's short, literal, describes both the content of the poem and the poem itself.
