So Much Going On!

:bulletblue: DailyLitDeviations has new Admins :la: We will also be hosting a round of Word Wars on March 31st at 1:00 PM EST. Scroll down below this journal to find the chatroom link!

:bulletblue: NaPoWriMo is next month, so sign up for the challenge!

:bulletblue: theWrittenRevolution is in round two of the contest judging process, so maybe we'll see some results soon :XD:

:bulletblue: Passages! I grabbed one of the most unusual books in my collection for this one - The King in the Window :D

:bulletblue: I am on spring break, so maybe I'll actually get some things done for a change. However, not even I know the depths of my own laziness; I have a feeling I'll end up wasting most of my time on StumbleUpon and playing Hotel Dusk: Room 215.

:bulletblue: That said, I am considering putting togethera new verion of Round Robin now that I know what I'm doing. I'll be sending some notes later, but go ahead and leave your thoughts in the comments if you're interestesd :D

1. Why are you on dA? What was the reason you made your account, and what made you stay?

I was aware of dA long before I joined – like, five years before. I used to love browsing the fan art sections. I don’t actually remember why I made an account, but it was probably to keep track of all the cool stuff I found.

I went through long periods where I would focus on either dA or FFN, but now that I’m more or less out of fandom (long story short – I miss you Phaldus, and your Discworld collection) I stay pretty much solely on dA.

2. What element (fire, earth, water, air – or any others if you feel like it) do you see yourself as and why?

My official element is Metal I believe. Metal Horse in the Zodiac. Personally though, I’ve always been drawn to water, though I believe I have earthy components as well given my sensualist tendencies. So, a swamp I guess? :XD:

3. If there is a version of you in a parallel universe, what do you think they would be like? (different-coloured hair/eyes, different parents, went down a different path in life, etc.)

Somewhere there’s a parallel me that never apologized for an incident in October 2008 and is probably pretty miserable about it.

4. You are in a trolley dash in a supermarket. You only have one minute to grab as much stuff as you like; which aisle do you head for first?

CHEESE. Or chocolate. Or both.

5. What is the most magical experience you have ever had? I mean something extraordinary, that you couldn't quite believe was true or seemed a bit surreal or just amazing in some way.

There used to be this coffee shop down the road from my first college, ten minutes walk from the dorms. Phaldus and I walked down there one night for hot chocolate; a local Celtic band played every other Friday and we sat down for a while to read and listen. I don’t remember how long we stayed now. But I remember even at the time thinking it was such a perfect cliché; two college freshmen reading at the local caffeine-fix joint listening to live music on a Friday night. I’ve always felt like it’s this incongruity in my memory, as though I had simply imagined myself into an indie flick. I remember walking back to campus – you had to cross two streets, three depending on what side of the road you were waking from. We both liked to crunch the leaves; I liked to step on them one by one and Phaldus liked to shuffle them with his feet and kick them everywhere. I remember there was this bush planted beside the road that really needed to be trimmed and blocked half the sidewalk and the lanyard of my keys got caught on it that night. I don’t remember why, but I considered pushing Phaldus into the road for something.

One day I’m going to have to ask Bill his interpretation of events so I’ll know it was in fact a real thing :B

I actually have another memory I could have used for this, but I already wrote about it: here.

6. If you could travel to any period in history (but not the future) and spend a day there when/where would you go?

I’d like to go spend some more time in Clarksville.

7. What do you think your greatest strength is?

Writing.

8. If there were no internet, how do you think the world would be changed? What would you be doing?

Don’t ask me to imagine such horrible things.

9. If you read news, which website/source (BBC, Huffington Post, etc.) do you follow and why? Or do you look at a mixture of different ones?

I get all my news from Facebook.

10. What is one thing that you hope will NOT happen in the next 50 years?

I hope I don’t die before Kingdom Hearts 3 is released.

I tag:

to answer the following:

1. Would you, could you, on a boat?

2. Favorite book?

3. The best thing in your gallery is...

4. You have been given the capacity to solve one world problem; what is it?

5. How would you like to die?

6. What fantasy world would you visit if given the opportunity? (If you say Hogwarts, I will de-friend you :P)

7. Tea or coffee?

8. How many things are in your inbox right now?

9. What is your favorite road sign?

10. The best thing you ever ate was...

FINALLY REPLYING TO THIS. I'M SORRY PLEASE FORGIVE ME :noes:

1. Your story is similar to mine. :XD: I mostly knew about it because friends were on it. I remember being surprised the first time I discovered there was literature on there. I can even remember a bit of the first story I read, but not enough about it to find it again :nuu:

2. Ooh metal is an interesting one. What element are you in the Western Zodiac? And water makes sense, I do kind of see that in you.

3. :tighthug:

4. YES YES. THE LOVE FOR CHEESE KNOWS NO BOUNDS.

5. that is absolutely beautiful. I think I understand what you mean – the experience seems so stereotypical of something else that you sometimes wonder if it's really part of your life? I don't have stuff like that for stereotypes, but some for other things.

6. Clarksville? :?

7.

8. But I did >D IKR, though.

9. News is so depressing, I tend to avoid the news sites a lot :paranoid:

10. Aww. :XD:

Your questions are awesome. :la: Also, what's wrong with Hogwarts? (although I would much rather visit other fantasy worlds, but still. :paranoid:)
